The Safe Sippy
We're all concerned about our kids and their safety...with all the recent info about the dangers of plastic, we've now got to worry about what our kids (and ourselves) are drinking out of. We've found the Safe Sippy: a cute (you know that's one of my main criteria), safe, and easy to use sippy cup. I'm not out to make your life any more challenging than it already is.
Why this stainless sippy versus others on the market?
Top rack dishwasher safe (see, I told you I'm helping)
Stable #5 plastic used on the soft mouthpiece has been independently lab tested free of BPA, DEHA and phthalates. Why even use plastic? Well, if you've ever watched a toddler drink straight from a stainless bottle, you'd be worried about chipped baby teeth too!
Bright fun colors and a rubber, thermal cover keeps them looking great and from injuring the family dog. Why must sippys be used as projectiles?
Easy to drink from...I tried. No intense sucking necessary here. And the sippy valve is completely removable, if your kiddo is done with sippys. I should mention that this is not completely spill proof, though it does take some shaking to get water out.
Handle is removable too.

The details about why you should use stainless versus plastics:

Bisphenol A (BPA). A chemical used to make plastic shatterproof, BPA mimics the human hormone estrogen and has been linked to a number of serious health issues, including: early onset of puberty and sexual maturation in females; changes in gender-specific behaviors; ADHD; breast tumors; decreased testosterone; decreased sperm production; learning disabilities; and prostate cancer.

DEHA. A “plasticizer” (plastic softener), DEHA exposure is linked to negative effects on the liver, kidney, spleen, bone formation and weight. It is also a possible human carcinogen that attacks the liver.

Phthalates. Another “plasticizer” used to soften plastics, phthalates have been shown to disrupt hormonal balances. In 2005 the European Parliament partially or totally banned six separate phthalates for use in children’s toys. Phthalates have been linked to cancer, dramatic changes in male sexual characteristics when exposure takes place in utero (during pregnancy), premature breast development in young girls and lowered sperm count in males.
